LED Sphere Screen Purchase And Pit Avoidance Guide
LED spherical screen, also known as LED spherical screen, is a kind of LED display device. This device can display a 360-degree picture. It is not like an ordinary screen that can only view one side. The complete image can be viewed from any angle. It is often used in commercial exhibitions, stage performances, brand exhibition halls and other scenes. Many customers are easily attracted by its appearance when they first come into contact with it, but they overlook key factors such as resolution, splicing process, and control system.
Is the resolution sufficient?
The resolution of an LED dome screen is not simply judged based on the number of pixels, but rather the combination of the diameter of the sphere and the spacing between dots. For example, for a sphere with a diameter of 1 meter, if the pixel pitch is P3, then the pixels of the entire screen may only be a few hundred by a few hundred, which is fine when viewed from a distance, but when viewed up close, the mosaic phenomenon will be extremely serious. Many customers only focus on the size of the sphere but do not consider the viewing distance, so after the installation is completed, the effect is quite poor.
If the dot pitch is smaller, the picture will be more delicate, but the price will be higher accordingly. P2 and below are suitable for viewing at a close distance, while P3 to P4 are suitable for viewing at a distance of more than 3 meters. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the actual light-emitting area of the sphere. Some manufacturers will shorten the distance between lamp beads to improve the resolution. However, the result is that the brightness will decrease, which will affect the display effect during the day or in a strong light environment.
The driving method of the ball screen also needs to be paid attention to. Ordinary flat screens use constant current drive, but spherical screens require special grayscale correction due to differences in curved surfaces and angles. Otherwise, color deviation will become very obvious. Before buying, it is best to ask the manufacturer for test results of actual video playback, rather than just looking at static pictures.
Is splicing and installation stable?
The LED ball screen is made up of multiple arc-shaped modules, and its splicing process has a direct impact on the flatness and lifespan. High-quality manufacturers will use high-precision molds to control the gap between modules within 0.1 mm, so that there will be no "cracks" in the picture. On the other hand, inferior dome screens have large gaps between modules and are prone to loosening over time, and even black lines may appear.
It should be noted that the internal structure of the sphere is also very critical. The frame used for support must be made of lightweight aluminum alloy and must not be too heavy. Otherwise, the requirements for load-bearing beams and hanging points during installation will be very high. Some construction sites did not conduct load-bearing assessments before. After hanging the ball screen, cracks in the wall were discovered, and they had to be reworked.
There are several installation methods: hoisting, wall hanging, and floor-mounted. Hoisting is more common. However, you need to confirm the load-bearing capacity of the ceiling or beam. If the diameter of the dome screen is greater than 1.5 meters, it is recommended to use multi-point hoisting method, because single-point hoisting has the risk of rotation. If it is floor-mounted, it must be equipped with a stable base to prevent it from being knocked over.
Control systems and content production
There is a situation where the control system of the ball screen is more complicated than that of the ordinary screen. Why is this? It turns out that when you want to map the picture to the surface of a sphere, you need to use a special video processor to "wrap" the flat content into a spherical effect. There are many such situations in customer purchasing behavior. Many customers only know after buying a ball screen that the pictures broadcast by ordinary players are deformed. As a result, they have to spend extra money to buy professional players.
It is necessary to plan content production in advance. Videos with a strong sense of rotation and dynamics are suitable for playing on a ball screen, such as globes, fluid special effects and logo rotation. Static text or simple patterns on the sphere do not work well. It is best to let the manufacturer provide ready-made content templates, or ask a professional team to customize them.
Confirm that type of functions, including brightness adjustment, remote control, and fault alarm. The high-end ball screen device has the ability to adjust the brightness with the help of a mobile phone APP, can perform scheduled power-on and off operations, and can also detect dead lamp pixels on its own. As for low-end products, even manual adjustment will be complicated and inconvenient, and the cost of maintenance will be at a very high level.
You must know that the more expensive the LED dome screen, the better. It must match your own application scenarios. You must first clearly understand whether it is used for indoor display or outdoor use, how far the viewing distance is, and what your budget is, and then make your selection based on the points mentioned above. If you can test the machine, or go to the site to see the actual effect, it will be much more reliable than just listening to the introduction.
